Squee - ire Squire Pee - otter Potter

When George was a little boy, Pa tok him to Russell to the market. When Pa and George passed the jail, someone summoned Pa inside where court was in session. For some reason, they needed him side for a short time.

He sat George in a chair out front and him to wait right there until he got back. George commenced crying because he was afraid Pa had gone to jail.

Squire Potter was walking down the street when he saw George sitting there alone crying. He began to talk to George to see if he could determine why those tears were flowing. His motive was to console George, but it only made matters worse.

When Pa and George returned home that morning, George went around saying "I don't like Squire Potter, do you Martha? Squee - ire Squire Pee - otter Potter -- I don't like him."

The family referred to him affectionally from then on as Squee - ire SQUIRE Pee - otter POTTER.
