When Martha was a little girl, she went to a funeral with Ma. The deceased was a neighbor, a man well liked by all who knew him. Martha watched Ma very closely and saw that she was crying during the preaching at the funeral. SHe though if Ma was crying, then she should cry too, and turned on the tears
When she got home, George saw her all teary-eyed and said 'What is the matter withyou? Why'd you cry at the funeral?" Martha said, "Well, Ma was crying." George sternly replied "That man was nothing to you - you didn't even know him and you're not supposed to be crying. You don't cry over someone you don't even know."
That came as news to Martha because she thought if Ma cried then she should too.
