As you may recall, Martha grew up on a farm in a family of ten children in the early 1900's. The farm was located in Danleyton, Kentucky near the East Fork River.
Children living in the country devised their own entertainment from their surroundings. When Martha grew older, she entertained her nieces and nephews with these true tales of her own childhood experiences; some somber, some humorous, until the stories became so familiar, many begged to hear them again and again. She usually started out with "Let me tell you a little tale.....".
