In the early 1700's a young man came from Framce to the United States. A young girl also wanted to come, but this was not allowed.
To make her trip possible, she sought a job on the ship as a page girl and worked her way to America. When this young man and woman arrived, they were married and made their home in Philadelphia. One day the young man left to buy groceries and was killed enroute.
Later, the young woman married James Clarke and made their home in Martinsburg, Virginia. They were said to have a big fine home with many beautiful flowers. They had three sons: Marshall, James and Anthony (and possibly one or two other children).
James Clarke and the French girl he chose for his bride are burried in Martinsburg, Virginia (now Martinsburg, West Virginia).
